4   Link   Africa: Africa Grantmakers Affinity Group AGAG
Foundations in the United States have made grants in Africa since the 1920s and have a wealth of knowledge and experience relating to both Africas problems and promise. Nevertheless, most foundations funding in Africa operate in relative isolation from one another, limiting their ability to compare experiences, learn lessons, and develop partnerships for the greater good.

The Africa Grantmakers' Affinity Group (AGAG) is a membership network of foundations that are currently funding in Africa or are interested in funding in Africa. AGAG was established as a forum for foundations to exchange information and work together in an effort to amplify current foundation funding and promote increased and more effective grantmaking in Africa to better address Africas development challenges.
AGAG membership services include an active listserv of grantmakers, an annual meeting, learning calls, and informal sessions on current issues in African development relevant to grantmaking and grant makers. AGAG also conducts specialized research on foundation funding in Africa.

Most of YEBN members are graduate or PhD students in the subject of life sciences or biotechnology. The average age is below 30 years of age, yet the term young does only refer to our mindset and not to entry criteria for members. Everyone is welcome to join in and initiate activities at YEBN. Also we encourage persons with different backgrounds but strong interest in biotechnology to join to create a fruitful interdisciplinary forum.
