Job Description Structural biology of rhomboid intramembrane proteases

The lab is interested in intramembrane proteases that modulate cell signalling and membrane protein quality control. For details see http://www.uochb.cz/web/structure/1164.html. We have a project on the mechanism and structure of rhomboid proteases that will employ crystallography, NMR and fluorescence techniques. The work will integrate with other projects running in the lab. We are looking for highly motivated and independent candidates that would enjoy supervising a student. The position can be started immediately, is grant-funded, and a limited number of internal postdoctoral fellowships are available on a competitive basis. Nationally competitive salary will be commensurate with experience.
Qualification PhD in biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, physical chemistry or a related discipline obtained relatively recently. Your research experience must be demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications. Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques (DNA cloning etc.), protein purification and protein chemistry are essential, some experience in or exposure to protein crystallography, NMR or lipid chemistry would be an advantage. Fluent English or Czech is required and a very good command of written and spoken English is necessary.
