Job Description Cell biology of mammalian rhomboid intramembrane proteases
*****
The lab is interested in intramembrane proteases that modulate cell signalling and membrane protein quality control. For details see http://www.uochb.cz/web/structure/1164.html. The project will involve mass-spectrometric screens to identify substrate repertoires and interactors of mammalian rhomboid proteases, analysis of their substrate specificity, and cell biological experiments to probe their function. The work will integrate with other projects running in the lab. We are looking for highly motivated and independent candidates that would enjoy supervising 1-2 students. The position can be started immediately, is grant-funded, and a limited number of internal postdoctoral fellowships are available on a competitive basis. Nationally competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Qualification PhD in biochemistry, molecular or cell biology or a related discipline obtained relatively recently. Your research experience must be demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications. Knowledge of basic molecular biology (DNA cloning etc.), mammalian cell culture and protein chemistry are essential, some experience in mass-spectrometry or proteomics would be an advantage. Fluent English or Czech is required and a very good command of written and spoken English is necessary.
