|Job Description||We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated Postdoc who will join a group working on cellular & molecular neurobiology. Our laboratory is studying the molecular mechanisms and the signal transduction pathways that control neuronal death in Huntington's disease (HD) (Gauthier, Cell, 2004; Borrell-Pages, JCI, 2006; Colin, EMBO J, 2008, Keryer JCI 2011). HD is a fatal neurodegenerative disorder caused by a mutation in the ubiquitously expressed protein, huntingtin. The project will focus on the study of cellular dynamics in Huntington’s disease and in particular the role of huntingtin in intracellular trafficking in relation to neuronal death.
Techniques include molecular biology, biochemistry, primary cultures, microfluidic devices & state of the art live-imaging microscopy. We use primary mouse cell culture, transgenic mice and Drosophila melanogaster as model systems. The successful applicant will develop genetic tools to study the mechanisms by which huntingtin regulates axonal transport. We offer a close supervision in a motivated team and a stimulating scientific environment.
The position is funded by ANR.
Location: The laboratory is part of the Curie Institute. The Institut Curie/CNRS UMR3306/INSERM U1005 Department is located in Orsay in the University campus, close to the CNRS center of Gif/Yvette and only 30 min to downtown Paris. http://umr3306.curie.fr/en
|Qualification||PhD with good record of publications. Knowledge of cellular & molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, mouse or fly work or imaging are not required, but would be an asset.|
