Job Description The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in areas of medical science including molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. The department offers an international study and working environment, including about 300 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department is active within education programs for biomedicine, nutrition and public health.

SYSCOL is a large EU-FP7 financed collaborative project that aims to use the tools of systems biology to develop a quantitative and comprehensive model of colorectal tumorigenesis, one of the most common cancers in both males and females. The project is coordinated by Karolinska Institutet, where a management office comprising a project manager and project administrator has been in place since February 2011.

A full time position is immediately available as project manager for the SYSCOL Project. The project manager´s duties include maintaining regular contact and a good working relationship with all of the partners and research groups involved in the project, managing the execution of the partner commitments in research, training and dissemination, further development and administration of the project web page for dissemination of results and resources, coordinating dissemination and durability efforts, the organisation and execution of SYSCOL meetings and scientific conferences, managing the budget, as well as the financial monitoring and reporting, establishing and maintaining good links with the concerned European Commission officers and compiling the yearly scientific reports to the EC. You will work closely with the Project Coordinator (Prof. Jussi Taipale), the Project Administrator and the members of the Taipale Lab.

Qualification We are seeking a motivated applicant with a strong interest in research, preferably holding a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in life or computational sciences. Postdoctoral experience in molecular/systems biology or equivalent field, and experience in the coordination of projects and writing scientific publications, reports and grant applications is required. The position requires excellent communication and writing skills in English and very good organizational skills. A good working knowledge of Swedish and/or Finnish is desirable but not required.
