| Job Description | A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Claudio Punzo at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The Punzo-Lab is part of the Department of Ophthalmology & Gene Therapy Center. The main focus of the lab is on retinal degeneration diseases. Areas of interest in the laboratory include the study of molecular signaling pathways such as the Insulin/mTOR pathway that control protein translation in photoreceptors and the study of metabolic genes that balance the overall energy availability of photoreceptors (Punzo C. et. al., Nat Neurosci. 2009 Jan;12(1):44-52). Another area of interest includes understanding the upstream and downstream signaling events of the apoptotic pathway that leads to cone cell death. We use molecular biology, genetics, histology, virology and surgical procedures on mice to conduct our research. You will be working in an environment that is focused on translational research.
As an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, UMMS recognizes the power of a diverse community and encourages applications from individuals with varied experiences, perspectives and backgrounds. |
