| Job Description | Our team is interested in mRNA expression regulation in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. In particular we are studying LA-Related Proteins (LARPs) which constitute a superfamily of highly conserved eukaryotic factors than can be classified into four subfamilies, three of which contain members implicated in mRNA cytoplasmic regulation of expression. Our recent results conducted us to postulate that the Arabidopsis LARP1 protein is involved in the regulation of the cytoplasmic Poly(A) Binding Protein (PABP) function in stress situation.
We are seeking for a young dynamic and motivated postdoctorate researcher to investigate the functional and physical relationship that exists between AtLARP1 and the PABP, as well as study AtLARP1 role on mRNA stability and translation regulation in planta. This work will participate to and benefit from the collaboration we set up with Dr S. Conte structure group in London (King’s college). You will also be given the opportunity to learn and set up the CLIP (UV Cross-linking and Immunoprecipitation) technique in Arabidopsis, in collaboration with Pr. D. Tollervey group at the University of Edinburgh. Solid skills in biochemistry and molecular biology are required. Knowledge of plant techniques is not necessary. French language is not necessary but it is highly important that you have good communication abilities in english. The position is initially available for 2 years with a possibility of extension for an 3rd year. Our team is part of the Plant Genome and Development Laboratory (LGDP), a high ranking of international reputation unit co-funded by CNRS and the University of Perpignan. It offers an excellent work environnement in a fully equiped brand new building with researchers and technical staff involved in plant physiology, genetics, epigenetics and genomics studies. The city of Perpignan is located in the south of France between one of the most beautiful spots of the mediterranean sea cost and the Pyrenees mountains, less than 30 km away from Spain. |
