Both programmes are open to researchers of all nationalities. Eligible applicants must hold a PhD/Doctorate degree. However, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Belgium for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date. Applicants for long-term fellowships can only apply within 6 years after obtaining their PhD. The eligibility criterion for short-term fellowships is the application within 10 years after obtaining their PhD.
Applicants can submit a proposal in any of the following scientific domains: Biological sciences, Humanities, Social sciences, Medical Sciences, Exact and applied Sciences. The host institution where the candidate will carry out research should be one of the Flemish universities (eventually in collaboration with a Flemish research institution).
Long-term fellowships will be of 3-year duration with a possibility of 1 renewal and short-term fellowships of 1-year duration. Funding covers the salary with full social security coverage as well as a bench fee of EUR 4,000 per year to cover mobility allowances and research equipment.
