ERA-NET: EuroNanoMed announces second transnational call

The ERA-NET EuronanoMed has announced the launch of its second transnational joint call "European Innovative Research & Technological Development Transnational Projects in Nanomedicine". The call aims to support transnational research projects that combine innovative approaches in the field of nanomedicine, and to encourage and enable transnational collaboration between public and private research groups from academia, clinical and industrial enterprises. The deadline for the submission of proposals is June 11, 2010. The project proposals must cover at least one of the following areas:
- Regenerative medicine
- Diagnostics
- Targeted delivery systems

Proposals may include, but are not limited to: identification, characterisation and validation of biomarkers, early diagnosis, convergence of nanotechnology and stem cell technology, cell biology applied to nanomedicine, multimodal imaging agents or techniques, point of care diagnostics, gene or cell therapies using nanotechnology.

The participating countries are: Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey. Each proposal must involve a minimum of three research groups from three different countries including at least two EuroNanoMed member states.

The maximum number of participants in a project consortium is seven. It is mandatory for each applicant consortium to comprise partners from at least two of the following categories:
- Academia
- Clinical/public health research sector
- Enterprises (all sizes of private companies)
